- Landmark judgement on TRIPLE TALAQ by the Supreme Court of India in the case of Shayara Bano Vs. Union of India and ors Respondents by the Cheif Justice of India namely called Jagdish Singh Khehar by saying that the correct law of Talaq as ordaind by the Holy Quran is that talaq must be for a reasonable cause. Triple Talaq is an instant and an irrevocable. In the view of different opinions recorded, by a majority of 3:2 the practice of ‘talaq-e-biddat’- triple talaq is set aside.
