|In inquiry if judicial process in completed it will not result into acquittal/conviction. it may result into discharge or committal for trial.||The trial leads either to conviction or acquittal.|
|Inquiry may relate to an offence or a matter which is not an offence. For Ex. inquiry for deciding the issue for main-tenance, possession or public nuisance.||Trial is always of an offence.|
|Inquiry is used in a wider sense to include every kind of inquiry other then trial (unlimited meaning).||Trial denotes two things:
(a) Trial of a controversy arising from an issue.
(b) Trial of a complaint or an action from beginning to an end.
