  1. High Court

 

  • Sec 28(1) of CrPc 1973 talks about the Jurisdiction of High Court
  • All type of offences are triable
  • Can give Death Imprisonment and life Imprisonment independently

 

  1. Court Of Session (Session Judge and Additional Session Judge)

 

  • Sec 28(2) of CrPc 1973 talks about the Jurisdiction of Court of Session
  • Can give death punishment but that is subject to reaffirmed by High court
  • Additional Session Judge have the same Jurisdiction as session Judge

 

  • Assistant Session Judge

 

  • Sec 28(3) of CrPC 1973 talks about the Jurisdiction of Assistant session Judge
  • Can award all punishment except death sentence life imprisonment and imprisonment exceeding for a term of 10 years.

 

  1. Chief judicial Magistrate

 

  • Sec 29(1) of CrPC 1973 talks about the Jurisdiction
  • Can award all punishment authorised by law except death sentence, imprisonment for life and imprisonment for a term exceeding 7 years

 

  1. Court of Judicial Magistrate First Class

 

  • Sec 29 (2) of CrPC 1973 talks about the Jurisdiction
  • May pass sentence for a term not exceeding 3 years or fine not exceeding 10k or both.

 

  1. Court Of Judicial Magistrate Second Class

 

  • Sec 29(3) Of CrPC 1973 talks about the jurisdiction
  • May pass sentence for a term not exceeding 1 year or fine not exceeding 5K or both.
