Who is accountable for brutal killing of three BJP Workers?

The two judge bench headed by Justice A.K. Sikri expressed his apprehension ‘This is not being political, but what is happening in West Bengal?’ in brutal killings of three BJP workers took place last year in Purulia district. The body of one of the worker was found hanging from a high-tension electric pole as an example of the violence meted out by the two not so ideological but political rivals.

Police recently filed a closure report in one of the murders stating it suicide, regarding which Adv Gaurav Bhatia approached apex court.

After hearing Adv Kapil Sibal, representing the State Government, and Adv Gaurav Bhatia Justice Sikri asked Mr. Bhatia whether the CBI could investigate cases in West Bengal considering the fact that the State government had withdrawn general consent to the CBI’s jurisdiction within its territory.

Adv Sibal, on this point contented that nothing can prevent the Supreme Court from ordering a CBI investigation. He also plead befor court not to go into the facts of the case as it was the job of District Court.

Adv Bhatia focused on irregularities of the Police that it took 18 days to file FIR in which case CBI investigation to the matter is of prime importance over thr brutal killing of Shaktipad Sarkar, Tirlochan Mahato and Dulal Kumar, and also sought compensation of 50 lakhs for the family members from the government.
