Trust for the construction of Ram Mandir announced; UP govt. proposed a land in Ayodhya for Masjid Construction ILW LAW CRITIQUE Thu, Feb 06, 2020, at ,12:50 PM On Wednesday Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the formation of a trust for the construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. The announcement came shortly after a meeting of the Union Cabinet presided by him gave its approval. The newly formed trust will be called as “Shri Ramjanmabhoomi Tirtha Kshetra”. The trust is formed following the directions from the Supreme Court. The trust will oversee the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya and manage its affairs. The government has, as per the directions of the SC, paved the way for the construction of a grand Ram temple at the Ramjanmabhoomi site. The issue pertains to sensitivities and faith of crores of people in the country and it is my good fortune that I am making this announcement,” the PM told the Lok Sabha. Soon after the announcement Home Minister Amit Shah tweeted the updates regarding the board. The tweet posted in Hindi translates to “the constituted trust will be independent and responsible for affairs of Ram Mandir and a total of 67 acres land will be transferred to the trust”. Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra The trust will be constituted of a total of 15 members in the trust -- 9 permanent and 6 nominated members. The independent trust will oversee the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya. The trust will always have a trustee from the Dalit community. The trust will have its address at: Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra R-20, Greater Kailash Part-1, New Delhi, 110048. Trust will be free to take decisions related to the construction of Ram temple. It will also have to arrange all facilities for devotees such as kitchen, gaushala, museum and Sarai. The board of trustees will appoint one trustee as president-managing trustee, who will preside over meetings. At the same time, the general secretary and treasurer will also be appointed. The donations received for the Ram temple will be used only for the work of the trust. Trust will have to keep account of donations and expenses received for Ram Temple. Balance sheets will be created and trust's accounts will be audited. There is no provision of salary for the members of the Ram Mandir trust, but the expenses incurred during the journey will be paid by the trust. The Trust: The 15 member trust will be led by K Parasaran. Kesava Iyengar Parasaran is the man who fought the Ramjanambhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute in Supreme Court. The 92-year-old senior lawyer has also allowed his house in Delhi's Greater Kailash to be used as the trust's office. Permanent Members: Jagatguru Shankaracharya Jyothish Peethadheswar Swami Vasudevanand, Prayagraj Jagatguru Madhavarcharya Swami Vishwa Prasannatheerth, Udupi Yugpurush Parmanand, Haridwar Swami Govinddev Giri, Pune Vimlendu Mohan Pratap Mishra - a descendant of Ayodhya royal family Dr Anil Mishra, Homoeopathic Doctor, Ayodhya Kameshwar Chaupal (SC), Patna - the Dalit man who laid the foundation stone of Ram Temple in 1989 during 'sheelanyas' organised by Vishwa Hindu Parishad. Mahant Dhirendra Das, Nirmohi Akhara, Ayodhya (The Supreme Court had directed the government to give Nirmohi Akhara a seat at the trust table, in the delivered judgement.) Nominated Members: The temple trust will select two prominent persons by majority resolution to be part of the trust One representative to be nominated by the central government, which will be a serving member Indian Administrative Services, at least of joint secretary level One representative to be nominated by the state government and would be a serving member of Indian Administrative Service under the state government District Magistrate, Ayodhya will be the ex-officio trustee. If serving DM is not a Hindu than additional magistrate will sit on the board The chairman for the administration development of Ram Temple complex will also be selected by the trust board and will be an ex-officio. Note: All nominated members will have to be practising Hindus. Update on Majid Land The government of Uttar Pradesh has proposed land for Masjid Construction in Ayodhya. Following the directions issued by the Supreme Court, the state government has agreed to give land in Dhannipur village in Ayodhya on the Lucknow highway, about 18 kilometres from the district headquarters.
